Guide: How to Choose the Right French Exam in 2026

Follow our 4-step guide to find the exam that best suits your goals.

Step 1: Define Your Goal

Before registering, identify why you need a French certification. Whether it is for studies, career development, immigration, or personal achievement, your objective will help determine the most suitable exam.

Step 2: Check the Validity Period

Not all French certifications have the same validity.

DELF and DALF are official diplomas valid for life.

TCF and TEF are proficiency tests with results valid for two years.

Step 3: Assess Your French Level

DELF and DALF certify a specific CEFR level (A1 to C2), while TCF and TEF assess your overall French proficiency and provide a score corresponding to your level.

Step 4: Verify the Requirements

Before registering, make sure that your university, employer, embassy, or government authority accepts the certification you have chosen. Some institutions require an official diploma, while others request a recent proficiency test.

Our team is here to guide you and help you choose the certification that best fits your goals.
