TEF (Test d’Évaluation de Français)

The TEF (Test d’Évaluation de Français) is an official French language proficiency test developed by the Paris Île-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI Paris Île-de-France). It assesses your French language skills for academic, professional, and administrative purposes.

At the end of the test, you will receive an official certificate indicating your level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The certificate is valid for two years and is recognized by universities, government authorities, and organizations around the world.

TEF Test Options

TEF Tout Public

Designed for anyone wishing to assess their French proficiency for personal, academic, or professional purposes. It is recognized by universities, employers, and institutions worldwide.

TEF Études

Intended for candidates applying to French-speaking universities or higher education institutions. It provides official proof of French proficiency for admissions in France and other French-speaking countries.

TEF IRN (Integration, Residency & Nationality)

Designed for applicants who need to demonstrate their French proficiency when applying for a residence permit, long-term residency, or French nationality.

TEF Canada

Required for many Canadian economic immigration programs and certain Canadian citizenship applications.

TEF Québec

Designed to meet the requirements of the Quebec Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration (MIFI) for immigration procedures.

All examinations are conducted in accordance with the standards established by the Paris Île-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI Paris Île-de-France).

Results

 

Results are issued by the Paris Île-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI Paris Île-de-France) within 3 to 5 working days after the test and are sent directly by email.

Your official certificate includes both your scores and your corresponding CEFR level (A1–C2).
