Building the Future of Alliance Française Bahrain
For about three years now, Bahrain and France have been collaborating to provide new premises for the Alliance Française Bahrain.
As the first Alliance Française established in the Gulf region, the institution has been located in the educational district of Bahrain, Isa Town, since 1986.
Following discussions between the Kingdom of Bahrain and France since 2023 regarding the potential relocation and development of the Alliance Française, both parties reached an agreement in 2025 on a cooperation project for the construction of new premises for the Alliance Française Bahrain.
In January 2026, construction works commenced on the new Alliance Française Bahrain. These construction works are set to be finalized in January of 2027, for our official move-in to happen in the first quarter of that same year.
Designed by French architect Pierre Sfeir, the building has been developed and implemented by the Ministry of Works, with strategic oversight carried out in cooperation between the Bahraini and French governments. The project is funded by the Kingdom of Bahrain and by the Alliance Française partners.
The new facility will extend the Alliance Française legacy and serve as a modern centre dedicated to French language education, internationally recognised certifications, and cultural exchange.
The inside of our future premises will reflect a bold yet welcoming aesthetic with open spaces, as well as a red and white palette, reflecting the Alliance Française identity. The design prioritises functionality and comfort, with bright, airy interiors to inspire learning and cultural exchange.
The floor plan of the new Alliance Française is organised around six spaces: five classrooms and a staff room, a central hall and library, a café, offices, service areas, and a full auditorium.
